While observing a koi pond, Lori Franz was captivated by the graceful movements of gold, yellow, and gray fish and the ever-changing abstract compositions they created. In a moment of artistic intuition, she quickly sketched the scene to take back to her studio. There, Franz developed several drafts, exploring the many directions the fish might travel. Her final composition is both powerful and pacifying to the viewer’s eye.
